Just Like My Father
words and music by Rev. Kurt Koch

Just like my father I have my pride.
And when I feel uncomfortable it helps me hide.
From unwanted feelings that run deep inside.
And I choose to numb them and run and hide.

I run and hide, ya. I run and hide.

Just like my father I have my pain.
And I choose to heal it, but it still remains.
When I look in my son’s eyes I see the same.
And God surely knows the boy’s not to blame.

He’s not to blame. He’s not to blame.

Can you feel the bonds of pain?
Can you feel the bonds of love?
We all want to feel safe inside.
We all want to feel safe inside.

Just like my father there’s more to me.
Than my bad habits and dishonesty.
When I look in my son’s eyes it’s plain to see,
That the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

He’s just like me, ya. He’s just like me, ya.
He’s just like me, ya. Oh he’s just like me, ya.
Oh he’s just like me. Just like Me.
